DISCLAIMER

While I share many views and opinions with our Founding Fathers, being of sound mind and in possession of all my faculties, I am also aware that we live in a far different World than they did. In recognition of this truth and also in recognition of the fact that I am a loyal and law abiding citizen of this Nation, I wish to state for the record that I do not now, nor ever will advocate taking up arms against our government or using them in any way as a means of changing our present state of affairs. Furthermore, I do not now, nor ever will council or encourage anyone to break our laws. I am, above all things, a constitutional advocate who believes in obeying the law. Furthermore, I also strongly believe that for the sake of freedom and our ultimate well-being, government officials, should also obey the law.

Unfortunately, the problem we face today is that we are led and ruled by people at the national, state, and local levels who have institutionalized lawlessness and break the law whenever it suits their purposes. Compounding this problem is the fact that the example set by our National leadership has filtered into our other institutions. We presently live in an age of deceit, where corruption rules supreme and we are led by con artists in both government and in the private sector who think coning us is their birthright and sacred duty. The truth of this lamentable state of affairs is evident in the Savings and Loan Scandal, the Wall Street Bond Trading Scandal, tithing advocacy by churches, the enactment of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), Watergate, the impeachment trial of President Clinton, the United Way Scandal, and now the "creme de la creme"; Enron, where company executives, with the cooperation and complicity of their auditors, defrauded employees and stockholders out of their life savings and retirement.

These quotations, save three, were obtained from the web site of Fred Gielow (www.youdontsay.org), author of the book, "You Don't Say". That web site also provides the original source of the quotes.

OLD THINK

"The deterioration of a government begins almost always by the decay of its principles." --Montesquieu (A prime principle of governing in a Constitutional Republic is that the government abides by its Constitution. Our government no longer does.)

"It is a Newtonian principle of politics that a government bent upon tyranny will continue that course until it is forced to change direction. Official lies are the propellant that drives the engine of tyranny, and unless Americans demand accountability from our rulers, they will never stop lying." -- William Norman Grigg

"Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force! Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master." -- George Washington

"You have rights antecedent to all earthly governments; rights that cannot be repealed or restrained by human laws; rights derived from the Great legislator of the Universe." -- John Adams

"Without the Constitution and the Union, we could not have attained the result; but even these are not the primary cause of our great prosperity. There is something back of these, entwining itself more closely about the human heart. That something is the principle of 'Liberty to all' -- the principle that clears the path for all -- gives hope to all -- and, by consequence, enterprise, and industry to all." -- Abraham Lincoln

"Don't interfere with anything in the Constitution. That must be maintained, for it is the only safeguard of our liberties." -- Abraham Lincoln

"Good intention will always be pleaded for every assumption of power . . . . It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters." -- Daniel Webster

"A society of sheep must, in time, beget a government of wolves." -- Bertrand de Juvenal

"The same revolutionary beliefs for which our forefathers fought are still at issue around the globe -- the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God." -- President John F. Kennedy

"Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts and murders itself. There was never a democracy yet that did not commit suicide." -- John Quincy Adams (The founders distrusted democracy; therefore, the government they created was a Democratic Republic. The big lie foisted on the American public today is that we are a Democracy; ignoring the most important aspect of our political heritage that first and foremost, we are a Republic.)

"Freedom and democracy are not synonymous. In most of the world, the term democracy means the right for citizens to participate in the process of government. It is a right granted by the government, and controlled by the government, and if exercised improperly, it is denied by the government. Freedom, on the other hand, is the God-given right to govern one's self." -- Henry Lamb (To protect our freedom our forefathers gave us a Democratic Republic with safeguards against the tyranny of the Majority and against the possibility of a demagogue leading us astray by appealing to the ignorance and prejudices of the majority. A pure democracy has none of these safeguards and is, in fact, a flawed and contemptible form of government.)

"To entrust the government with the power of determining the education which our children receive is entrusting our servant with the power to be our master." -- David Nasaw

"There is no such entity as "the public", since the public is merely a number of individuals, the idea that "the public interest" supersedes private interests and rights can have but one meaning: that the interests and rights of some individuals take precedence over the interests and rights of others." -- Ayn Rand (In America, group rights now supersede and over shadow individual rights; a benchmark of tyranny because privileges afforded to one group of people are always proffered at the expense of another.)

"You are not to inquire how your trade may be increased nor how you are to become a great and powerful people but how your liberties may be secured, for liberty ought to be the direct end of your government." -- Patrick Henry (The direct end of government in America today is business and trade. Truth, freedom, and individual rights take a second seat to trade and business.)

"The American Republic will endure, until politicians realize they can bribe the people with their own money." -- Alexis de Tocqueville

"In a world of deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act." -- George Orwell (Good "ole" George. In 1984, we laughed at him for being wrong, but he is now having the last laugh)

"Nothing can destroy a government more quickly than its failure to observe its own laws, or worse, its disregard of the charter of its own existence" -- US Supreme Court Justice Tom C. Clark

"The man who speaks to you of sacrifice, speaks of slaves and masters and intends to be master." -- Ayn Rand

"To preserve our independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude." -- Thomas Jefferson

"The great rule of conduct for us, in regard to foreign Nations is in extending our commercial relations to have with them as little political connection as possible". --President George Washington, Farewell Address

"The germ of destruction of our nation is in the power of the judiciary, an irresponsible body - working like gravity by night and by day, gaining a little today and a little tomorrow, and advancing its noiseless step like a thief over the field of jurisdiction, until all shall render powerless the checks of one branch over the other and will become as venal and oppressive as the government from which we separated." -- Thomas Jefferson (Our present judicial system's primary interest is not protecting our rights, but instead, the rights and indiscretions of government.)

"Experience should teach us to be most on our guard to protect liberty when the government's purposes are beneficent." -- Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis, 1928

"The more numerous the laws, the more corrupt the government." -- Tacitus (100 AD).

"None are so hopelessly enslaved as those who falsely believe that they are free." -- Von Goethe

"No prosperity and no glory can save a nation that is rotten at heart." -- Theodore Roosevelt

"Experience has shown that, even under the best forms of government, those entrusted with power have, in time and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny." -- Thomas Jefferson

"When all government, domestic and foreign, in little as in great things, shall be drawn to Washington as the center of all power, it will render powerless the checks provided of one government on another and will become as venal and oppressive as the government from which we separated." -- Thomas Jefferson.

"Either governments serve the ends of justice or they become vast criminal enterprises." -- Saint Augustine (354-430)

OLD THINK ON THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS

"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government". -- Thomas Jefferson

"Americans who value freedom had better be more concerned about the gun control crowd than the criminals. The criminals want your money. The Neo-Totalitarians want your freedom." -- Charlie Reese

"Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?" -- Patrick Henry

"Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any bands of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States." -- Noah Webster

"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and the keystone under independence. The rifle and pistol are equally indispensable. The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference -- they deserve a place of honor with all that is good." -- George Washington

TRANSITION THINK

"Because you have never lost your freedom, because you have never been conquered, because you have never had all your possessions taken from you, you are now willing to surrender your freedom, independence, and autonomy by inches. You simply don't notice it, but one inch at a time, it slips away." -- German girl who spent her childhood in East Berlin

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.." -- Abraham Lincoln.

"In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, it was planned that way." -- Franklin D. Roosevelt

"We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force." -- Ayn Rand

"We recognize the new order in the world . . . . But America, our America, the America builded [sic] on the foundation laid by the inspired fathers, can be a party to no permanent alliance . . . . Every commitment must be made in the exercise of our national sovereignty. Since freedom impelled, and independence inspired, and nationality exalted, a world super government is contrary to everything we cherish and can have no sanction by our Republic. This is not selfishness, it is sanctity. It is not aloofness, it is security. It is not suspicion of others, it is patriotic adherence to the things which made us what we are. . . ." -- President Warren Harding

"The United Nations is the greatest fraud in all History. Its purpose is to destroy the United States." -- Congressman John E. Rankin (The U. N. turned out to be a shill. The real red-herring is the World Trade Organization.)

"If we were merely dealing with the law of averages, half the events dealing with our Nation's well-being should be good for America. If we were dealing with mere incompetence, our leaders should occasionally make a mistake in our favor. We are not dealing with coincidence or stupidity, but with planning and brilliance." -- Gary Allen

"The high office of the President has been used to foment a plot to destroy America's freedom and before I leave office, I must inform the citizens of their plight." -- President John F. Kennedy

NEW THINK

"The purpose of government is to rein in the rights of the people." -- President Bill Clinton (Incredibly, these words came from the mouth of a man who swore an oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.)

"There are a lot of very brilliant people who believe that the nation state is fast becoming a relic of the past." -- President Bill Clinton (This is not entirely true. A more accurate statement would be that there are a lot of very brilliant people who, in violation of their oaths of office and pledge of allegiance, are working to make the United States a relic of the past.)

"If the personal freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution inhibit the government's ability to govern the people, we should look to limit those guarantees." -- President Bill Clinton (This statement demonstrates Bill Clinton's contempt for our Constitution and contempt for the unalienable rights of humankind.)

"If we are to avoid the eventual catastrophic world conflict we must strengthen the United Nations as a first step toward a world government . . . to do that, of course, we Americans will have to yield up some of our sovereignty." -- Walter Cronkite, accepting the Norman Cousins Global Governance Award from the World Federalists Association at the United Nations. (In other words, our fear of a third World war should be sufficient motivation for us to surrender our freedom and sovereignty to a group of people not elected by us and who care less about our security and well-being.)

"If we're going to ask Mexico to give up a little sovereignty, why shouldn't we give up a little too?" -- President Bill Clinton (In other words, if the citizens of a third World nation who, for the most part are uneducated and live in poverty are willing to surrender a portion of their birthright for a loaf of bread, then the citizens of the greatest nation in the history of the World should follow their example.)

"People suffer not because their governments are too strong, but because their governments are too weak." -- President Bill Clinton

"It is the sacred principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter to which the American people will henceforth pledge their allegiance." -- President George Bush, Sr., addressing the General Assembly of the U.N., February 1, 1992. (This being the case, I trust that Mr. Bush or his son will soon provide us with the long overdue updated version of our Pledge of Allegiance.)

"The government does recognize deeded right-of-way, but they deem what right-of-way is, and if they deem you shall crawl on your knees, then you shall crawl on your knees." -- Charlotte Hawks, Land Acquisition Specialist, Bureau of Land Management

"Those who cast the votes decide nothing. Those who count the votes decide everything." -- Josef Stalin (A more appropriate version of this quote for our Nation today is, "Those who reply to the polls decide nothing. Those who take the polls decide everything.")

"We can't be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans ..." -- President Bill Clinton (If our elected representatives are not fixated on preserving our rights and freedom, what are they fixated on?)

Lest We Forget:

Bill Clinton used the authority of his office to coerce subordinates into submitting to his sexual predilections.

It was Bill Clinton who helped established the precedent that, under our Constitution, it is permissible for Government Officials and our President, the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of this Nation, to lie to the American people, Commit Perjury, and Obstruct Justice.

It was under the watch of President Clinton that the Government of the United States of America was wrongfully and illegally subordinated to the Ruling Panels of the World Trade Organization.

NEW THINK ON GUN CONTROL

"Gun registration is not enough. Waiting periods are only a step. Registration is only a step. The prohibition of private firearms is the goal." -- Attorney General Janet Reno

"What good does it do to ban some guns. All guns should be banned." -- Sen. Howard Metzanbaum

"Our task of creating a socialist America can only succeed when those who would resist us have been totally disarmed." -- Sara Brady, Chair, Handgun Control

MY THINK

"Considering the nature and state of the World today, perhaps World government is an idea whose time has come. However, I do not think World government, in the guise of the World Trade Organization, should come about through deception and subterfuge. The fact that it has speaks volumes about the kind of people that brought this about and volumes about the kind of World Government they have shamefully forced upon us". - Alan Adaschik
